ANOTHER CASE OF MULTIPLE EARLY CANCER OF THE STOMACH

Abstract
This is the second case of multi-focal early stomach cancer reported in Korea following the first case which was also reported by us in 1970.
The patient (52 year old male) was suffering from epigastric distress-dull pain, gas erructation and food regurgitation for about 20 years, due to which he had been taking stomachics on and off. The patient, how-ever, began to complain worsening epigastric distress including hunger soreness after ingesting flu-tabs about 10 days prior to admission.
Fluoroscopic examination of the stomach revealed indefinite findings so that repeated examination or gastroscopy was recommended under the impression of gastroduodenitis plus passible malignancy at the distal body and proximal antrum.
Fiberscopy and gastrocamera examination showed a large superficial irregular ulceration at proximal lesser curvature of the body and another shallow ulceration, oval shaped and small in size, at the anterior wall of distal body, both of which were thought to be cancerous ulcerations because of their irregular and indurated edges.
At surgery, there noted no metastasis grossly to the regional lymphnodes or nearby organs such as liver, pancreas, omentum or peritoneum.
Histology of the resected stomach showed the both ulcers to be early cancer, type ¥± c, cancerous infiltration being limited mostly in the mucosa and ex-tending only partly to the superficial portion of the submucosa. Sections of lymphnodes were free from cencer metastasis.
